Personal tasks in Slack

Personal tasks are a special type of task that only you can see, and that cannot be assigned to others.

There are two ways to create a personal to-do list with Workast.

  • Within Slack
  • In the Workast web application - click here to learn how to create Personal tasks in the web app.

Within Slack

On the left hand side of the Slack chat you will see your direct messages.

Click on the direct message with Workast.  This is found under the "Apps" section.

All the tasks created in this direct message with Workast are on your personal to-do list.

Create a task by typing /todo followed by the task details.

E.g. /todo Send out calendar invite for CRM meeting

Press enter to save the task.

This will add the task to your Personal to-do list.

Quick tip - you can also create a personal task from any channel in Slack by using the /mytodo command.  For example, if you want to create a task for yourself to pick up a birthday card for Sarah, type /mytodo pickup birthday card for Sarah.

If you create a Personal task and need others to view it, you will need to move it into another space. Create Slack to do lists, and learn how to move tasks, click here.
